The main objective of this project was to design a light fixture that had to take advantage of 3D printing technology. With that said, the design had to be abstract yet organic at the same time. The initial designs of my lamp went through several iterations before it came to this final full scale model shown here. Not knowing 3ds Max too well coming into the course made this project very challenging. Especially when you have an idea in your head or on paper that you’re trying to convey, however, you cannot manipulate the program to do as you please to replicate your idea. I’m extremely happy with how the final product turned out and the lighting choice I chose. My final inspiration came from the Chinese sky lanterns because they illuminate the night sky very calm and peacefully and I wanted to do the same in a room setting.
